There are a lot of exciting updates about the twilight cast, in addition to the stories already covered.
here's a wrap-up of the latest!
Melissa Rosenberg, the screenwriter behind the Twilight Saga film franchise, has been chosen for YouTube's forthcoming distinguished speaker series with USC's School of Cinematic Arts. She'll be talking about her work in both TV and film, and the event will be streamed live this summer. Details on how you can be a part of this, and perhaps even attend, are available here.
Rosenberg isn't the only Twilight filmmaker to be on the lookout for this summer. Chris Weitz (director of The Twilight Saga: New Moon) will be premiering his new film with Twilight studio Summit Entertaiment - called A Better Life, see the trailer and other details here - at the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival. The screening will take place on June 21st, and you can find out more information on that here.
Meanwhile, there are a heavy amount of Twilight cast updates to run through as well.
First of all, Bryce Dallas Howard ("Victoria" in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) has announced that she and her husband are expecting their second child. When she appeared at Cannes for Restless, the first film for which she is serving as a producer, her baby bump was certainly visible, so the announcement shouldn't serve as too much of a surprise. Her first child, Theo, is known to have visited the set of Eclipse in Vancouver quite often during filming, and Howard famously scared him a bit with her red contacts in costume.
Next, and still in-line with the family theme, Peter Facinelli ("Carlisle Cullen")'s wife Jennie Garth has shared her hopes that Facinelli might someday step behind the camera in the capacity of a director. To E! Online, she explained, "He's very good at being a producer, being a writer . . . I'm encouraging him to direct. I hope he wants to take that leap." Indeed! Facinelli's done at least three scripts himself, and he started Facinelli Films with Rob DeFranco (which has taken on Loosies, Paz, and, most recently, book-to-film translations for Jennifer Fosberry's books). It might be a while, though, until he can sit in the director's chair because his schedule just got a big addition with the recently announced fourth season return for Nurse Jackie.
Next up, Judi Shekoni ("Zafrina" - Amazonian Coven) has done a new interview with Twilightish, in which she talked about her interest in participating in a Twilight spin-off. "I'd love to! I think they should defintely do an Amazon spin off. I'd LOVE to be a part of it. On screen or anything else," she explained. Read the full interview here.
Chaske Spencer is going to be a part of a new initiative by the White House's Office of the First Lady called "Let's Move!" The project has been formulated "to support and advance the work that tribal leaders and community members are already doing to improve the health of American Indian and Alaska Native children." More details on that here.
There are also quite a few Twilight cast videos in the sidebar attachment, including: Jackson Rathbone's latest web diary; Christian Serratos talking about Breaking Dawn a bit; Tinsel Korey doing a great interview with ClevverTV; Kellan Lutz's announcement of a Immortals ComicCon sweepstakes; and Kellan Lutz confirming the "arm-wrestling" scene with Kristen Stewart in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2.
Finally, there are a couple of interest pieces worth sharing today as well.
First, The Vancouver Sun has a really interesting piece on the study of womens' attraction to "brooding" figures like Edward Cullen of the Twilight series. The conclusion seems to be that serious facial expressions signal status of some sort. Do you agree? Read the full piece here. Second, The Los Angeles Times has an opinion editorial discussing the recent trend, seen in The Twilight Saga and True Blood, of having humans interact with vampires without actually destroying them. You can read the full article here. Lastly, the Twilight prom dress Kristen Stewart wore as Bella has been chosen as one of the most memorable of all time. Details here.
That's all for now!
