~~~~@@@ I AM IN A PICTURE I AM THE GIRL HOLDING THE NEW MOON BOOK READING IT!!!!@@@~~~~
With a beaming smile and a wave, Kellan Lutz sent hearts aflutter and elicited ear-splitting screams from hundreds of fans who lined up at West Edmonton Mall today to catch a glimpse of the Twilight actor.
“Let’s do this!” Lutz shouted as he took a seat to sign autographs as about 1,000 fans — from pre-teens to parents — looked on at the mall’s Ice Palace.
Lutz was joined by co-stars Chaske Spencer and Christian Serratos who appear in the upcoming New Moon, which opens Friday.
The movie is the second installment of Twilight’s four-part series about a vampire, Edward Cullen, who falls in love with a human, Bella Swan, and the lives of vampires and werewolves trying to live normally amongst mortal beings.
New Moon focuses on a new relationship budding between Swan and werewolf Jacob Black and promises to be darker and more action-packed, said Spencer, who plays lead werewolf Sam Uley.
“There is more action, guys should come check it out,” Spencer told Sun Media. “As well, anyone can relate to this movie because it’s about outsiders. A lot of people are outsiders and feel like they don’t fit into society.”
“It’s a love story, a forbidden love story. Everyone goes through relationships and their downfalls,” added Lutz, who plays Edward’s brother Emmett Cullen, explaining the series’ massive following.
“And then you have the sex appeal. The mystery of the vampires. They are sexy, you wish you could be one,” he joked with a Sun Media reporter, eliciting accusations of being self-centred from his castmates.
The trio appeared to thrive on the attention from the doting “Twi-hards” wielding digital cameras and Twilight paraphernalia and pleading from behind gates and walls for the stars to shake their hands.
“These fans are very respectful,” said Serratos, who plays protagonist Swan’s human friend Angela Weber.
The trio are on a rollercoaster ride of fame and success following the success of the first Twilight movie, released Nov. 21, 2008, and the Twilight books, penned by author Stephenie Meyer.
Filming with other cast members around the same age have created some strong bonds and friendships, Serratos said, adding she considers them all her family.
“We’re all around the same age and you get really close with each other living in different cities,” she said. “You need someone to relate to and bond with. It’s awesome that we have each other.”
“We just kind of goof off. But when the director yells action, everyone is serious. We make sure we are focused,” Spencer said.
For the most part, being famous hasn’t really changed who they are or the lives they lead, they said.
Spencer said he’s been able to “fly under the radar” since he joined Twilight, but has started to don a baseball cap and sunglasses as the premiere date nears and the excitement around the movie intensifies.
“The only thing that gets annoying is when they’re not fans and when it’s their job to take pictures of us,” said Serratos. “But the fans have been really cool.”
*****CAN I JUST SAY THIS WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*****
