It looks like trendy clothing retailer BB Dakota is running out of luck.
The label scored an accidental hit when Twilight costume designer Wendy Chuck outfitted the saga's lead, Kristen Stewart, in a blue cotton canvas jacket she picked up at Nordstrom. The enterprising marketing team at BB Dakota was quick to capitalize on the exposure, touting the jacket on its website with the pitch, "Bella Swann [sic] wears this jacket in Twilight and scores the hottest vampire in high school, and so can you!"
Apparently Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the overwhelmingly successful film franchise, isn't having any of the commando marketing. On Friday, the studio reportedly filed a lawsuit against BB Dakota for copyright and trademark infringement. If Summit has its way, BB Dakota will not only be prevented from selling the jacket—it will also have to submit all jackets to Summit for "destruction." Harsh.
Twilight fans who still haven't nabbed the jacket are in luck—it is still available on Amazon and at Fred Flare. Nab it while you still can!
This makes me wonder how many jackets have been sold? Who out there has one?
