The whole world seems to have an opinion about Stephen King bad mouthing Stephenie Meyer. Well the chick at the blog The Chick Manifesto takes it one step further and comments on how Twifans react to the news.

I knew better than to read comments from Twilight's diehard fans. What are they called? Twi-hards? Twilighters? Twi-tards? I knew better, but yet I still looked. And like Persephone or Lot's wife I am so paying the price right now. My brain is broken.

Most people have probably read Stephen King's opinion of Stephenie Meyer's work by now. Now, no matter what, if you clicked that link, do not read the comments section. You'll only be hurting yourselves. Cleolinda highlighted a few, the best of the bunch, that sort of sum it all up.

Where have these people been? Are they Amish and Rumspringa just happened to coincide with the release of Breaking Dawn, thus the Twilight series are the only non Amish approved books they've read and they've never actually been to the movies?

No one's saying that Stephen King is the best writer in the world and that the movies are incredible works of art, but come on! It's Stephen King! Twi-hards click here and read all about it. He's not jealous. Promise.

And when someone criticizes something you love, don't react like a crazy person. You're just helping to emphasize the original point. Anyone who says the Twilight series are the best books ever written has only read four books in her (because let's face it, it's always a her) lifetime.

I put it in italic to show your words versus mine. I am not saying those are my words. Either you write a blog for people to read and discuss or you don't. I found it interesting and wanted to share it. Some of the twilight fans do react with out thinking. I don't think [as a group] we have to fight for anything. It's a proven success so there is no need for people's guards to be up. And you don't need to apologize to me. I know I am smart and I know I have read way more books than the twilight series. So that doesn't speak to me personally, I am female. We do have males that read the book series too. females are the majority that own up to it. But there are several people that don't read and this book compelled them to try reading for fun and those people might never find a book that speaks to them again...cause it's that good. I don't like haters that talk the talk without backing it up with reading. Have you read them? Stephenie drags you into a place that you don't want to leave with her story telling. And it's selling cause it not garbled with big words to make it sound important and none of us have to grab a dictionary. Don't write on the internet if you don't want people to see it. Make your blog private. I didn't come on YOUR board and say this because I didn't want to be disrespectful of your followers who value your opinion. But I will now since it is what you want.

Comment by lyndsey on February 6, 2009 at 1:13pm: lol ive ben reading my whole life, and ive read the twilight series and stephen king books, and there both totally different kind of writers that either one of them wouldnt be able to critizise each other objectively, SK is all killer clowns and rabid dogs, and SM is sparkly vampires and ailen invasions, totally different, but right now im reading the first book in the dark tower series by SK, and find it very boring, alot of walking through desert. but im still gonna finish it,

there too different to be objective about each other,

If I found the pasted part interesting enough I'd go check out the site it was related to. I'm not just talking about this particular post, I'm speaking in general.

The Twilight books were the most entertaining books I have ever read and I have read a lot of books...a lot. It's all about personal preference.
