Vampire Author Anne Rice says "Stephenie Meyer is a genius" and clears up her earlier not so glowing interview about Mrs. Meyer

Anne Rice paved the way for vampire books. She is a great author. A couple weeks ago Ms. Rice did an interview that was less than flattering to the Twilight saga and it's readers. Don't know what I am talking about? Read the article here. But now Anne has posted this video to try to clarify her statements. I am very happy that she did. All authors should be celebrated!

Comment by Susan Griffin on December 3, 2010 at 1:45am: I'm sorry, but I don't buy the "sincerity" of this woman. Her thinly-veiled insults show how condescending she is. I have to wonder if Ms. Rice is aware that she did not single-handedly create the vampire; many came before her and many will come after. The vampire as portrayed in her books as well as Stephenie's are mythological beings. How can this woman know what vampires would do, what's silly and what's not. This is just another celebrity with an incredible ego who writes great books but feels entitled to the worship her fans thrust upon her. Sounds like she needs to get off her throne and connect to reality. Also, dismissing the series as easy-to-read kids' books is completely offensive to us older fans. sarcasm>Ms. Rice, would you please make your books pop-up picture books so that some of us can understand them better?/sarcasm>
