Celebrity Gossip Reports:
"It doesn’t seem to matter what type of vampire movie it is these days, when it hits the theaters it goes straight to the top.
The parody movie "Vampires Suck" - which opened yesterday (August 18) - shot straight to the top of the day’s box office chart, where it stayed put in the No. 1 spot for the day.
It pulled in over $4 million for the day and is now expected to pull in at least $10 million more dollars over the next five days.
The spoof on movies like "Twilight" is directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, and stars Jenn Proske, Matt Lanter and Chris Riggi."
My opinion on why such a strong opening for a parody movie is this... Twihards/Twifans are looking for something to fill the void in between movies (and what a long void it will be). So what if this movie is making fun of all that we love, a person who can laugh at themselves is a strong person indeed.
On the flip side you have the population of people that *shudders* hates Twilight. So they will also flock to the theatre to see these guys making fun of what they hate.
So in reality you have a movie theatre of polar opposite people there for their own reasons of love and/or hate and yet all are laughing at the same thing. Bottom line, Vampire Sucks profits from it all...and will be laughing all the way to the bank.
