Just curious as to what you guys feel is the biggest appeal to vampires to the majority of normal fans. I write about them and lecture about vampires, yet until now, haven't spoken to the younger crowd on this topic.

About me:
I'm new to the whole younger vampire scene, as I've been a fan of traditional vampire classics, from Stoker to Underworld, but thought, I should give Twilight a try! And I'm happy I did. The author did an amazing job and the actors performed flawlessly in he first movie. I'm the author best known for my 2005 release entitled Embracing the Darkness; Understanding Dark Subcultures, published by Dark Moon Press, in 2005!

I've just released a book totally on vampires, as my official website says:
Allure of the Vampire: Our Sexual Attraction to the Undead by Corvis Nocturnum
The mere mention of vampires used to be enough to make people think of a nocturnal predator. But over the centuries the vampire has changed from monstrous villain to sexual object, for both men and women alike. Allure of the Vampire examines our intimate attraction to these beings in a detailed manner.
Now, join occult author Corvis Nocturnum as he reveals the fascinating evolution of this icon as it has lured and enticed us in folklore, film and books from the days of ancient civilization to the living breathing inhabitants of our modern subculture, the vampire community.

If you are interested in a copy or becoming a fan to stay in touch with me, visit the following:
www.darkmoonpress.com or Amazon.com to buy this work...Vampire wear clothing also carries it, I'm proud to say.

I only started getting deeper into Twilight (and finding time while writing) to read New Moon before it comes out. The clips online have me very interested in the head vampires, I really love the old world style art, architecture and clothing!

Counting down till the midnight showing… 

FYI As a fan of the writers work - and an author myself that is accustomed primarily to speaking with older adults, my intentions here are to get a feel for why younger people share my interest, beyond the “oh he’s so hot” juvenile mentality. When I do speaking engagements and signings, I’d prefer to relate to all members and ages of my audience, not dismiss them rudely. Twilight is one of many subjects I wrote about and my personal opinions of it.

Apparently moderators who approved the post didn’t agree with you, I’m establishing my credibility with verifiable proof for any skeptic of my credentials – this is the internet, after all where anyone can make a boast as you call it.

But, thanks so much for your warm welcome to the group.

I agree with Eliza Ann...
'Havent spoken to the younger crowd'???
More like havent advertised to the younger crowd or
have many younger fans!!
Also let me get this straight...your an author who writes about
vampires who has joined a fansite that is for a vampire book
that a brilliant author has wrote...maybe checking out the competition???

Competition has nothing to do with this - obviously you didn't bother looking into my work before assuming.
My work IS NOT FICTION. It is non fiction detailing history, folklore, film and subculture.

And I agree she is a brilliant writer.

The nasty attitude you both express is exactly why I associate with older people most of the time. Manners seem lacking from the 20 and younger crowd. I was hoping to find otherwise here but sadly I'm mistaken.

it doesnt matter whether its fiction or not...every author is in competition, and i appreciate the fact you write books but it doesnt look very good when your advertising on a fansite...Thats it.

I can accept that it may have appeared in bad taste, for that I apologize. I truly do have the best intentions.

I have many friends who are quite succesful as writers, from paranormal romance novelists to occult writers - most of us get along great and truly aren't competeing as odd as that may sound. we're all in the same business for a living yes, but its a comaradere of sorts - we all love what we do. I'd love to talk to Stephanie Meyers, and even spoke to the agent at Penguin Books (to Laurell K. Hamilton's people about the Anita Blake series so I had permission to use her book cover in my chapter on fiction) so I can assure you this isn't about ego.

I really would like to know - what makes the films of this fansite special to YOU in particular?

Again, sorry if my post was offensive in any way.

PS - my apology to everyone who took my post to solely be an ad. I love vampires, both in books and film, so I'm delighted to be here and listen, learn and share what I've come to know over the last twenty or so years researching the subject.

Okayy...But i just wanted to say how it looked.
But now you have apologised and i believe you did not mean this post to be an ad then i'll answer your question =]
I think the reason i love the twilight saga so much is because its not your average vampire book...You have love, loss, abondonment and hope.
I adore how Edward and Bella are total opposites but love each other so much and would risk everything to be together and cant live without eachother.x
Im a sucker for romance but the twilight books are more than just that, they show bella and edwards love, bellas loss and abondonement in new moon and the hate that the volturi show. They also have anger and mild violence which proves its not just all about romance and unconditional love, you have to fight for love sometimes.
But focusing mainly on the vampires in twilight, i think its the fact that they arent what you would call stereotypical vampires. The cullen dont want to be monsters and quench their thirst for blood by only hunting animals, not innocent humans and they dont hide in dark places, sleep in coffins and have fangs. They go out in the real world and try to blend in. Another reason why i love twilight is forbidden love and whats more forbidden than falling in love with a vampire??, us fangirls,as some people call us, dont love twilight for the vampires. We love twilight because its a modern love story with a dangerous twist.x

In conclusion, yes the vampires may be described as being inhumanly beautiful and described as sexy but the main attraction to these books and films is the love story, and the beautiful way that stephenie meyer describes the feeling of first love and danger.
