MALLORY PROVERBS!

Here is Mallory's entry:

Heavy In Your Arms… that song alone makes me a fan of Florence+Machine!
Wicked, Definitely Dangerously vigorous deeply…..EDWARD BELLA AND JACOB!!!

Love it!

One thing about Twilight soundtracks they tell the story of the movie to the t.
“Heavy In your Arms is about the trio that is-Edward,Bella and Jacob. I
first heard the song, when I purchased the Eclipse soundtrack from
Itunes. Usually, when the twilight soundtrack comes out I have a habit
of waiting to hear the movie, to see exactly where they placed the
song. But, I absolutely had to listen to three songs from soundtrack
(because of the artist and song title) Eclipse (All Yours) by Metric,
Let’s get lost by Beck & Bat for Lashes and Heavy In your Arms by
Florence+The Machine!!!! First and foremost I couldn’t wait to hear the
title of the song in the actual song-and why it was titled that. Then I
heard the song- and it literally made me cry-you could so tell Florence
puts her energy and passion into the song-its like she sang from
personal experience. She brings such soul to music she blazes the song
with her energy. I could just picture the recording studio staff, when
she sang the song they must have balled their eyes out!!! My sister and
I played the song again and again after we saw Eclipse for the
billionth time. It sends chills down your spine!! Not may artist can do
that. Beeeeeautiful fervent voice plus she’s a redhead!!!! And, she was
soooooo wicked at the VMAS!

After seeing Eclipse I just couldn’t understand why HIYA wasn’t placed
in the actual movie!! Its such a paramount, pivotal conclusive song
essentially revealing Bella’s feeling towards Edward and Jacob and one
of the most difficult choices in her life. I could just picture it
now-if it was placed during the actual movie-In one of the final scene
of Eclipse when Bella makes her choice known to Jacob-like there was
even a choice! TEAM EDWARD! Lol. That would have been so monumental!!!

The lyrics of “Heavy In Your Arms” is just basically sums up the angst
and drama of way way back in Twilight to literally Eclipse- and of the
love triangle that Is Twilight. To me it’s mostly about how undecided
and torn Bella is. To Bella she seems to be the only one who’s getting
older and weaker-compared to everyone else around her-due to the fact
she’s human. She’s dragging her significant other down.”' Is it worth
that Edward and Jacob risking their families’ lives-their lives.
"And is it worth the wait,
All this killing time?
Are you strong enough to stand,
Protecting both your heart and mine?”

Bella often admits throughout the series that she is a burden ,baggage,
too much for Edward. She sometimes even blames herself for her downfall
(New Moon). Bella always felt she wasn’t good enough for Edward- &
what happened in New Moon didn’t help! But, still Bella is unable to
let go. "Wrapped around your ankles”. But at the same time the song reflects **Edward/Bella**  -their love
.” My love has concrete feet, my love's an iron ball
Wrapped around your ankles, over the waterfall”

Edward has an unrelenting love for Bella-there’s no turning back for him.

“I was a heavy heart to carry
My beloved was weighed down
My arms around his neck
My fingers laced a crown
I was a heavy heart to carry
My feet dragged across the ground

Bella feels selfish for loving Edward-her problems (being human most of
all-in the supernatural world that is Edwards life) adds problems to
his own.
The line:
“And he took me to the river
Where he slowly let me drow”

Bella almost doesn’t blame Edward for leaving her in New Moon, and her
lack of faith in Edward’s love, ended up slightly causing her to depend
on someone else:Jacob!

"Who is the betrayer the killer in the crowd? The one who creeps in corridors and never makes a sound"
is most definitely a metaphor for love. She is too scared to admit her love like in the lines:

“This will be my last confession
"I love you" never felt like any blessing
Whisper it like it's a secret
Uttered to condemn the one who hears it
With a heavy heart

Bella is basically torn between living the life she should live, and
the life she wants. Regardless of what everyone has to say,or the fact
that she broke her best friends heart (Jacob)-It is WHAT SHE WANTS-and
it shall be!

As I read New Moon, I could really feel the anguish and the extreme
heartache Bella must have felt. Thinking about it now still makes my
heart hurt for her. Then Edward comes back, and she’s torn between the
two of them. When I heard Heavy in your arms, and then I see the video
its so dangerously raw. She is literally being dragged-its drastically
creative. The black and white film adds that touch. I could so relate
to it, a love that shouldn’t exist but you can’t seem to control it!
Its best of things and it is the worst of things. It can either destroy
your soul or you can’t live without it-ITS CALLED LOVE! And, sometimes
it bloody hurts.

This song is sums up the whole twilight series up to eclipse. It’s such
an Eclipse’ish song. She could get both the men she loves killed. She
feels guilty for her unrequited love for Jacob. She also felt guilty
for hurting Edward as she tried to hang onto both of them.

This line is basically like in the book when Bella realizes she loves Jacob, "I love you" never felt like any blessing"
in the book she told Jacob, that he didn’t gain anything by making her
realize that she loves him because she's staying/choose Edward. WHO
WOULDN’T OBVIOUSLY!

The love of Bella and Edward is like anything else and the final line
is about Edward. He’s strong enough to protect them both. In the end
Bella realizes that, she is worth his love. FOREVER!!
“I was a heavy heart to carry
But he never let me down
When he held me in his arms
My feet never touched the ground”

I BLOODY love this song, the emotion in the lyrics is soooo Edward,
Bella and Jacob. Its so Eclip………se. FLORENCE DID a friggin’ great job!

I always recemond people to hear the song before they judge it. And if they do listen to me, then they'll love it. but not as much as i do! Every one of her songs is the best!! Ever! I just love the way that she differs from others. She is weird, but thats why million, no, billions of people love her music. Ironic enough, I was listening to heavy in your arms when I found out about this contest!! No lie!!! So of course I do NOT think I would win this contest, but I thought, give it shot. After listening to the beautiful "Heavy in Your Arms" on the Eclipse soundtrack, I was immediately enthralled by Florence + the Machine! It instantly became my most played song on the album, and I constantly kept replaying this song! I was so sure that this song would be at an emotional moment of the movie like when Jacob carries Bella through the woods and they talk or after she kisses Jacob but the more I listened to the lyrics, I realized I was taking it too literally. I was not convinced it was about them anymore. This song is so raw with talent has such depth musically and lyrically. I absolutely love the lyrics to this song. I think this song is really about the love that Bella has for Edward and how consumed she is by him. Bella is so "heavy" in love with Edward that it affects everything that she does and her other relationships. This love is more than just a high school crush, it's deep, rich, and real. She would do anything for him, and he for her and it is so tightly bound between them that nothing can keep them apart anymore. The "who is the betrayer, who's the killer in the crowd" line represents how people will betray them and it will not be easy for them. My favorite part of the song is the ending when she goes up an octave and sings "I was a heavy heart to carry my beloved was weighed down..." It literally gives me chills. I really wish this song would have been somewhere during the film rather than the end credits. I'm sure that this song itself would sell the soundtracks even more!
I was so amazed by Florence + the Machine, I went to the record store in search of a hard copy of the album because I love owning my own albums and not always just downloading for my ipod. I am blown away with the uniqueness of the album "Lungs". Every song has rich melodic themes and creative and lush lyrics. While I love every song on the album, I cannot help but say "Cosmic Love" is my favorite song. I love singing out loud to this song...I even once embarrassingly called my friend from my phone by accident while driving and singing this song. Haha let's just say she liked my passion I put into singing in the car. :) I enjoy seeing my favorite bands live and I have definitely put Florence + the Machine at the top so hopefully they will tour to a city close to me in the near future!
Here's to a great up and coming band that I hope keeps getting the attention they deserve!

Bella’s note to Edward the night before the Newborn War

How much does love weigh?

I watch your contortions as you learn to love me, to trust me. You make so many mistakes, but are so nimble to change. I can’t blame you. I would never blame you.
My heart is heavy with the pull – I know you want to protect your family. And I should let you, but I just can’t. I can’t bear the idea of you, hurt, suffering, dying – writing the words here hurts me. And yet when I look at your family, fighting the war, the war that is my fight, I feel as if I am inconsequential and light as air, but the love I have for you is a titanic weight you must carry around your neck. I want to set you free; I want to pull you close to me; I want to stand beside you and fight.

And I can’t do anything… except bleed and pull you beneath the waters with me.

Edward’s journal entry the night before the Newborn War

How much does love weigh?

The night holds no answers. Sleeping, you slumber in my arms, so delicate and fragile – each breath a feather on a breeze. Yet the pull of your heart binds me as tightly as an iron bar, and answers the pull in mine.

Sweet girl, love, let me answer your melancholy question. Your love is my ballast, holding me, tying me to the temporal existence. Your love is my anchor, my substance, my place in this world. My love weighs more than this world has known or can know. My love is overwhelming, consuming the essence of time itself, swallowing the universe and without depth. I shall never tire of this weight, I shall never break under its bounty. Our love is heavy, brimming over with the weight of change it carries, but it is a freeing burden, a joyful onus. And if that weight pulls me below the deluge, if I am with you, my love, I would gladly submerge and drown.

How much does love weigh? Love is a massive force that doesn’t weigh a pound.

I first heard Florence and the Machine when they were played on the Current 89.3 in Minneapolis - WOW what a unique sound Drumming Song captivated me, then Dog Days are Over. I was thrilled to hear they had been chosen for the Eclipse Soundtrack. I think the song from the film, Heavy in Your Arms - can be either Bella or Edward - in their own minds - it depicts the fact that love can fill you with worry over being too much for your love to bear. We all have our heavy moments, and isn't one component of a long lasting love the idea that you put your beloved ahead of yourself. The line, this would be my last confession - think of who and when that would be spoken, and it fits many characters too - Jacob, Renee even! Wonderful Sound!

Ever since I heard Florence from the Eclipse soundtrack I automatically fell in love with the song. It was one of my favorites. It is filled with so much meaning. I think that it speaks of Edward's love for Bella. Many times he felt like a burden to her, which is why he decided to leave her in New Moon. He's caused her great pain but he's done it all for love. His love is so great that he is selfless. His concern is always her well being. His love may feel like a weight for Bella because it is grand. Which is why Bella always feels like she should be more worthy of his love but Edward loves her just the way she is.
