my parents put off my permit too, but not by as much. In march i'll have had my license for a year. In colorado, you can't drive anyone besides family members until you've held your license for six months. I was so excited when i could finally take my friends out to lunch...

trust me, i know all about excuses. My mom's been putting off letting me get my nose pierced for about a year now. At this point I might as well wait until November when I turn 18, then she can't do a thing about it!

why do your parents think it's too dangerous? Do they mean people-danger (stranger danger!) or like, animals? HIking's never really struck me as hazardous...
